Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli (also Fonzie or The Fonz) is a fictional character played by Henry Winkler in the American sitcom Happy Days (19741984). He was originally a secondary character but became the lead. By the mid 1970s, he dwarfed the other characters in popularity. Winkler received top billing once Ron Howard left in 1980.

Character traits and development
Fonzie (The Fonz) is a leather jacketed Italian-American mechanic, and later, part-owner of Arnold's restaurant, who lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the 1950s. He is known for his catchphrases: "Whoa", and "Aaay!"/"Eyyy!" while snapping his fingers, and forming a thrust-forward double thumbs up. He is also known to be able to fix Arnold's jukebox (or cause it to play his favorite song) by hitting it with the side of his fist.
He is a high school dropout seen by establishment characters in the show as a rebel. As a child, he and his mother were abandoned by his father. The only advice Fonz remembered his father giving were "Don't wear socks in the rain." When he disappeared, he left a locked box for his son, but not a key; Arthur did everything to open the box, finally running over it with his tricycle. The contents? "The key, and that's it!"
In the sixth season episode "Christmas Time", his father, a sailor, delivers a Christmas present to make amends. Fonzie is resentful, but at the end of the episode reads his father's letter explaining why he left, and opens it. In a later episode, Fonz unexpectedly meets a woman he believes is his mother in a diner. She convinces him she is not, but in the end she looks at a picture of Fonz as a small child and sighs.

Fonzie jumps over a shark while on water-skis
Occasional facts about the Fonz's past emerged: during the show, the Fonz finished his high school diploma at night school, became an auto mechanic instructor, and later school teacher. In later seasons, he went from being a womanizer to having a single long-term girlfriend. Though he never married, he adopted a young orphan boy named Danny in the final season, completing his transformation from rebel to family man. Various shows indicate that the Fonz has extensive martial arts training (though of the fictional Hollywood kind). In one show, he compares his nerve strike knowledge to that of a woman while both use Ralph as a training dummy.
A troubled past
Previously with two gangs, the Demons and the Falcons, his redemption began in the months before the series. The Fonz intervened in a rumble to which gang members had challenged high school student Richie Cunningham. Thanks to this intervention, Richie developed respect for Fonzie, and despite their differences, the two developed a friendship. While Richie learned the world from Fonz, Fonzie learned about a tight-knit family from the Cunninghams, from whom he eventually rented an attic room.
Even Richie's father, Howard (Mr C. to Fonzie), a pillar of the community, came to regard Fonzie with affection. Despite his aloofness, Fonzie had more whimsical traits, notably devotion to the Lone Ranger whom he meets in a later episode. While confident with women, he blushed when Mrs Cunningham ("Mrs C." to Fonzie), who became like a surrogate mother to him, kissed him on the cheek. Fonzie allowed Mrs C. to use his real name, which she did affectionately. Richie's sister Joanie also became attached to Fonzie; he called her "Shortcake".
Due to his a rough past, he commands respect throughout Milwaukee for knowing how to fight. In subsequent episodes, he out-dueled an expert fencer, mangled a gangster's prosthetic iron hand with one fist. His other skills included being a ladies' man and mechanic. His history also involved romantic involvement with every attractive woman in Milwaukee along with his imperturbable "cool."
Opponents larger than himself back down from confrontations; those who do confront him never come out on top.
Civic involvement
Fonzie is involved with community projects....(and so on)

Ghost Rider is the name of several fictional supernatural antiheroes appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Marvel had previously used the name for a Western character whose name was later changed to Night Rider and subsequently to Phantom Rider.
The first supernatural Ghost Rider is stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze, who, in order to save the life of his mentor, agreed to give his soul to "Satan" (later revealed to be an arch-demon named Mephisto). Instead, his soul bonded with the entity called Zarathos. When utilizing Zarathos' powers Blaze's flesh is consumed by hellfire, causing his head to become a flaming skull. He rides a fiery motorcycle and wields trademark blasts of hellfire from his skeletal hands. He starred in the series from 1973-1983.
The subsequent Ghost Rider series (1990-98) featured Danny Ketch as a new Ghost Rider. After his sister was injured by ninja gangsters, Ketch came in contact with a motorcycle which had somehow been mystically enchanted to contain the essence of a "Spirit of Vengeance." This spirit was once said to have originally been a Puritan man named Noble Kale, an ancestor of both Blaze and Ketch. However, this claim was later disputed.[citation needed]
Johnny Blaze reappeared in this 1990s series as a supporting character, and was revealed to be Ketch's brother. In mid-2000s comics, Blaze again became the Ghost Rider, succeeding Ketch.
Nicolas Cage played the role of the Johnny Blaze in the 2007 film Ghost Rider

Johnny Blaze
Main article: Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze)
Following the western comics character who originally used the name, this Ghost Rider first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #5 (Aug. 1972), created by writer-editor Roy Thomas, writer Gary Friedrich, and artist Mike Ploog.
Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stunt performer in a traveling circus, sold his soul to who he believes was Satan but actually is the demon Mephisto (a retcon), in order to save his stepfather, "Crash" Simpson, from cancer. Crash later dies in a motorcycle accident and Mephisto attempts to take Blaze's soul, only to be thwarted by Crash's daughter Roxanne, who had learned of the deal and had prepared a counter-spell based on selfless love. Unable to take Blaze's soul, Mephisto has his revenge by binding Blaze with a demonic force.
Blaze then finds himself transforming into a demonic entity at nightfall, during which times he wields strange powers. He is called the Ghost Rider for his strange appearance. As time goes on, he is able to call on his demonic abilities whenever he wishes, not just at night. Eventually, he seems to have a different personality as Ghost Rider and it is finally revealed that Mephisto has forced Blaze to share his body with a demon rival named Zarathos.
Originally, Zarathos was stripped of his memories and so Blaze was in control whenever they transformed into Ghost Rider. But now, Zarathos' true personality has resurfaced and from then on it is a continuing battle for dominance between him and Blaze. Being a demon, Zarathos craves the punishment of sinners and so Blaze at times willingly releases him when criminals or other threats are nearby. However, it is always a struggle to force Zarathos back so that Blaze can resume his control and his human identity. At time, Zarathos tries to find ways to either destroy Blaze's soul so that he may be free to enjoy complete physical existence.
The character received his own series in 1973, with penciller Jim Mooney handling most of the first nine issues. Several different creative teams mixed-and-matched until penciller...(and so on)
